Programs and Services
I’m Positive, Inc. is honored to develop the most innovative programs and services to improve the lives of all those affected by HIV or AIDS. As our support from the community grows, so does our ability to cultivate and manage robust and effective programs.
Below you will find an ever-growing list of avant-garde programs and services. With your help, there is no limit to our success!
Positive Partner Program (3P)
As one of the first programs launched at I'm Positive, Inc. this program establishes partnerships with business owners, managers and independent contractors that want to generously donate a percentage of every sale to a supporter of I'm Positive, Inc. Cosmetologists, Massage Therapists, Restaurants, Spiritual Guides and more have already generated donations for our cause through this program. There is no cost to our supporters and no cost for entrepreneurs to participate in the program so there is no risk involved! There is ZERO cost to the organization for this program.
Whether you are a business owner interested in giving back to your community or a supporter looking for an easy way to support our charity, it's a WIN-WIN-WIN! We have made supporting our charity as easy as getting your hair cut, enjoying a massage and having your tarot cards read.
Case Management Program (CaMP)
(In development) Asking for and receiving help can be difficult. I'm Positive, Inc. is developing an incredible Case Management Program (CaMP) that will make receiving assistance easier and more effective. This program will focus on all short-term, long-term and ongoing support solutions for all those affected by HIV or AIDS. Our CaMP Counselors and Case Managers will provide unparalleled service from the very first visit and throughout your participation in this program. Our goal is to make the process of receiving assistance as quick and easy as possible.
Offering a Line Service to our Members and Clients can reduce the number of days off from work required to meet with various sources of assistance (Social Services & Welfare, Social Security Administration, Community-based Organizations and Charities, Food Banks and more.) With I'm Positive, Inc. doing the footwork for our Members and Clients, there is less wasted sick-time off of work, enabling that time to be used for instances of actual illnesses. The cost of this program depends on the availability of our Volunteers and the number of participating Clients and Members at the time we launch this program. Stay tuned for more details!
Workforce Responds To HIV (WoRTH)
(In development) Is your workplace ready to respond to HIV? The impact of HIV on the workplace intensifies with each year of this epidemic. HIV is the second leading cause of death among Americans aged 25-44 years, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This age group comprises the bulk of the U.S. workforce; in fact, over 50 percent of our nation's workers are in this age group. The CDC also estimates that approximately 1.2 millon people are living with HIV in the US.
Working while living with (or being affected by) HIV or AIDS can be hard. Many employers lack policies that protect individuals that are living with chronic illnesses. While there is some protection found in the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act, these Acts alone do not protect a large population of people affected by HIV or AIDS. For example, to qualify for periodic time off for doctor's appointments, an employee must be employed by their covered employer for at least 12 months, have worked at least 1,250 hours AND the employer must have 50 or more employees. (Source: dol.gov)
People who are living with (or affected by) chronic, lifelong illnesses are not able to put their illness, nor the treatment of their illness, "on hold" while they work at least 12 months and 1,250 hours. With this loophole, any employer can terminate their sick employee providing they don't qualify for protection under the Acts.
To directly address this severe lapse in protection, I'm Positive, Inc. is developing the most comprehensive workplace training program ever created! In conjunction with the CDC-developed "Labor/Business Responds to AIDS" program, our redeveloped and improved framework for this program is poised to create tangible change throughout the workforce. With 3 individual education and training programs (Employer, Employee and their Families) WoRTH encompasses a broad-range of resources for both HIV-infected and HIV-affected people. The cost of this program is currently being analyzed. Stay tuned for more details!
